                                                                                          Commonly Asked Questions

What is the best time to fly?
There is no such thing.  Many people believe that flying with the doors off in the summer can’t be beat.  But between January and March, the snow on the ground is equally scenic.  The heat in our aircraft works so well, we stow our winter jackets while flying.  An additional benefit of cooler weather is the increased performance which makes learning to fly the helicopter just a bit easier.

Can I bring a friend?
We recommend it!  Your first lesson is exciting and you will want to share it with family and friends.  If they want to fly as well, please call ahead so we can ensure that an aircraft and an instructor are available.

How do I use a gift certificate?
Simply bring it with you on the day of your flight.  Should you desire, the value of your lesson can be applied toward a tour instead.

Can I bring a camera?
Please do.  If you want to take a photo during the flight, simply ask your instructor to take the controls.

What should I wear?
Dress for comfort and wear good shoes.  If you’re comfortable walking to the helicopter, that is fine.

Can I fly at night?
Yes.  During the winter months, this can be as early as five o’clock.  A clear, moonlit night and snow on the ground has to be experienced.

I’m scared of heights.  Is it frightening?
Flying a helicopter is not like sitting in the middle of an airliner, seeing only the rows ahead of you or a small window.  Visibility is excellent, with an unobstructed view in all directions.  We fly much lower than jets; you will be able to see much more detail than from 40,000 feet.

I’m purchasing this as a gift; can it be a surprise?
Schedule the lesson ahead of time and drive to the address below.  The look of surprise when they arrive at the airport is a great deal of fun.

How do I get onto the airport?
Any GPS or smartphone will bring you to West Ramp Road/Gate 3 of the Lawrence airport, thirty minutes from the Zakim bridge.  Call us once you get here and we will open the gate for you.
