Instrument Rating
As you progress in your helicopter pilot training, the INSTRUMENT RATING is usually the next logical step. Whether you are planning a career as a pilot or are seeking to improve your skills, the instrument rating is a valuable addition to your flight experience.
Phase I (Attitude Instrument Flying)
This part of your training consists of learning to fly the helicopter without outside visual references. Relying solely on the instruments, you will learn to disregard your instinctual sense of balance and rely on what you see in front of you. This is a great learning experience and can be a challenge for many. You will be amazed at how quickly you can learn the basics and move on to the more challenging Phase II
Phase II (Navigation)
Once you master instrument flying fundamentals, we combine thorough ground school which teaches how you will navigate without outside references. You will learn departure, en route, and initial approach procedures. This will preface the most challenging portion of the rating....
Phase III (Approaches)
Quickly following Phase II, you now learn how to transition from the en route and initial approach, onto the final approach and landing sequence. This is usually where a good portion of your training is concentrated. It is fun and will conclude your training into a complete understanding of instrument flying.
